2020 has been a momentous year full of change and awakening. As a lifelong civil rights attorney I've spent my legal career fighting against the injustices caused by systemic racism. This year, we've lost several icons and heroes; further, our country has had to adapt to a new way of living, loving, communicating, meeting, and existing. America has been forced to face its demons and 2020 has become the year of the Pandemic/Revolution! We are a country in mourning. In April of 2020, my family began to explore alternative ways to cope with being unable to venture out...it was to the grocery store and home. One of the girls asked to have a family paint night, and a new hobby was born. I decided to try acrylic pouring and a new passion was born! May 25, 2020, George Floyd died in front of a camera while begging for his life. As a civil rights attorney, I used to prosecute police brutality cases...I was moved to tears at this horrible display of casual indifference to life. George Floyd repeatedly begged for his life saying "I Can't Breathe". He died in the midst of a Pandemic that disproportionately affected Black people, causing thousands of deaths by attacking the lungs and making it difficult to "Breathe". Moved by the protests that began on May 25th, I completed my first pours on May 31, 2020, and continued pouring to create the series I call the "The Pandemic/Revolution 2020". My writer sister, (Dayna L. North) an executive producer in Hollywood, coined the phrase. I pour primarily with metallic paint to create abstract paintings. Each painting in the series was based on a vision that came to me during the revolution of the Summer of 2020. The "I Can't Breathe" painting can be considered the rallying cry of 2020!  
In the words of Reverend Dr. William Barber, "I Can't Breathe is shorthand for the strangulation of equality and justice in America!" 

Based on the urging of my family and friends, I've decided to sell giclee prints of my abstract art. The giclee prints are printed on canvas and metallic canvas paper. I will sign and date each print. The prices listed are for 11x14 and 12x12 sizes. Please contact us if you would like to request a different size. Each month I plan to donate 10% of the proceeds from the sales of "I Can't Breathe" and "The Fire This Time" to a social justice organization.
